I stumbled upon this blog, Man Vs Debt by Adam Baker whose mantra is…
- Sell Your Crap
- Pay Off Your Debt
- Do What You Love
The reason why I am sharing this story is to highlight the shift in many folks thinking in terms of becoming financially free. I have also posted on Paula Pant of afford anything.com whose mantra is also same. This shift was first documented in depth in Tim Ferriss’s book 4-hour work week. I don’t know whether he coined the term, “New Rich” or someone else did but the philosophy of the New Rich is definitely very different.
The question is not whether I want to follow in the New Rich foot steps or whether I should be contemplating this lifestyle. It is a matter of understanding an option. An option that seems to be chosen by a lot of folks and they are putting their stories out in the public for anyone who was/is in their earlier predicament to emulate and to get out of their predicament.
With that context, here are some links to some more info on this topic.
Here is the link to Adam Baler’s Tedx Talk
Since I came across this blog very recently, I have not gone through most of the blog posts but the topics are very interesting. Here are the list of the blog posts that I will read and hope you like them too.
Here is great quote that I got from Adam’s Tedx Talk.
There are thousands and thousands of people out there leading lives of quiet, screaming desperation, where they work long, hard hours at jobs they hate to enable them to buy things they don’t need to impress people they don’t like. – Nigel Marsh
Disclaimer: I currently like my job and am not working long, hard hours and so the quote does not apply fully to me but I was in a similar situation not too long ago and so a good reminder to have.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
